Innocence Faded is a song by Dream Theater. It is the 3rd song off their 3rd album, Awake. The song is notable for being one of the rarest performed Dream Theater songs, only having been performed 20 times between its release and 2021.

Analysis[]
Petrucci wrote the lyrics of "Innocence Faded", inspired by his deteriorating friendship with Moore. "... I couldn't say it was solely about that, but it was definitely inspired by that. There was a feeling of it not being the same way it had been, and the realization that things were not always going to remain the same." Petrucci said.
Tone[]
Innocence Faded is a somewhat upbeat ballad, with both pop and progressive elements. The poppy tone tends to contrast with the rest of the album, though it still retains some elements of darkness.
Live Performances[]
Live performances of Innocence Faded are extremely rare, with only a handful of performances of the song on the initial tour to support Awake. The song was resurrected in 2006 during the 20th anniversary tour, however, as well as other later performances in 2009's Progressive Nation tour.
