Instrumedley is a live medley that was played in the Train of Thought era and was included on the Live at Budokan album and DVD.

The first known recorded appearance of this song was at the Modern Drummer Festival in 2003, which can be found on Youtube, along with the recording taken from the Budokan performance. However, the band was performing this medley as early as the World Tourbulence tour for Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

Songs[]

This medley jumps between songs from a lot of their older material, from When Dream and Day Unite to Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory. The medley also includes bits of songs from Liquid Tension Experiment, another band that included Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, and Jordan Rudess. The medley as a whole uses the song Scene Seven: I. The Dance of Eternity as a framework for the rest of everything.

The medley goes in this order:

  1. Scene Seven: I. The Dance of Eternity (Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory)
  2. Metropolis—Part I: "The Miracle and the Sleeper" (Images and Words)
  3. Erotomania (Awake)
  4. Scene Seven: I. The Dance of Eternity (Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory)
  5. Metropolis—Part I: "The Miracle and the Sleeper" (Images and Words)
  6. A Change of Seasons: IV. The Darkest of Winters (A Change of Seasons)
  7. Ytse Jam (When Dream and Day Unite)
  8. Scene Seven: I. The Dance of Eternity (Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory)
  9. Paradigm Shift (Liquid Tension Experiment)
  10. Universal Mind (Liquid Tension Experiment)
  11. Scene Seven: I. The Dance of Eternity (Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory)
  12. Hell's Kitchen (Falling Into Infinity)
